April 2015

This is the month of crazy swim outfits for Quincy. Sometimes combined with dance outfits and most often with church shoes.
Dying Easter eggs.

For Easter, Grandma Carol sent the girls mini Ty babies to match the bigger ones. All of a sudden Cancun and baby Cancun had to come everywhere with us again.
The girls saw this overpass and got very excited..."look a hill, a hill!"
Quincy packing along a napkin in her shoe.
The oldest bakery in Louisiana.  It was pretty interesting. We pulled around the back and walked into a very open very OLD warehouse. After a minute a man walked over to us and up against the wall to a decrepit cash register we hadn't noticed. We got some bread and ginger cakes, the only things they made.  The ginger cakes were actually really good!
Then on to our destination, Avery Island and the Tabasco Factory. It was Good Friday so the machinery wasn't all running, but it was a pretty short tour anyway.

The store was pretty fun and the girls were excited to each have their own little bottle of tabasco sauce. They had free samples of tabasco ice cream....which was pretty disgusting like it sounds.
Afterward we toured the gardens on the islands and even caught sight of some alligators.

For dinner we ate at Prejeans which had awesome scenery and the best rolls EVER! I tried not to eat too many but I think I had like 5.
Quincy wanted to wear her hood everywhere.
One of the other highlights of the trip was Vermilionville Historic Village. They had a really great education museum indoors, and then the Acadian village outside.  Most of the houses you could also go in and they had people to tell you about them.
Hurricane and tornado machines.
My favorite part, watching a women spin cotton into thread.  I never understood how a spindle worked until now, it was SO cool! She even let us try it and gave us some cotton seeds to plant at home.

In the school house there was a guy MAKING a violin.  That was pretty cool too.

One of the coolest parts outside was a little raft you had to pull across part of the river. The girls had a lot of fun doing this.

Afterward we found a good spot to picnic and run around a little.

 Quincy had some shoe problems.
We made it back to Mandeville in time for Easter morning in the woods behind our house.

 Trying out her new rollerblades.

Ashlyn got a new Polly Pocket house.
We had some Easter candy and then headed inside for our traditional general conference picnic breakfast.

 Playing outside between sessions.

 Perfect spot for a rest.
Strawberry picking at Mrs. Heather's.  It was a good thing we all had our rain boots!  It was probably the first really humid yucky day of the year but we still had fun and got plenty of yummy strawberries.

Making chocolate dipped strawberries once we got home.

Quincy picked out a lunch all her own at Subway after grocery shopping one day and really cherished it on our walk back to the car.
About to don one of her famous outfits of the month.

Quincy's very own tea party, she was so proud!

Cancun and Baby Cancun joining us for Saturday soccer.

Ashlyn made her first break away dribble and goal!!!

But for the most part she is entertained trying to make a seat out of soccer balls.

 Success!
 Snack and trophy time.

 One last team cheer.

It was Ellia's trophy day too.

Instead of just using vegetables as a means of dipping and licking hummus off, Quincy decided to get a spoon and hummus...minus any vegetables.
Pampered Chef power hour cooking party!  While Jeremy was in Houston I had this party and everyone got to try out the tools while they made me 5 freezer meals to keep!  It was pretty awesome!
One of Ellia's soccer teammates also gave everyone a cute soccer necklace.
What Jeremy was doing while I was having the pampered chef party.

Chevron party at the zoo.  Each of the girls got a fun backpack to wear.
Ashlyn getting a closer look at a tarantula.
Lion, Tiger and other cat skins, skulls, pawprints and tongues.

The new petting zoo. Quincy got brave enough to brush the goats.
We even got a lovely display from one of the resident peacocks.
 Just another Quincy outfit.

Dad taking the girls for some outside time.

At least this time we were headed to the playground NEAR the pool.

Quincy took a dive in the mud so we decided to rinse her off in the pool. It was probably her plan the whole time...

Shoe shopping. She found some blue sparkly heels with Frozen on them.  That was one hard store to leave without making a purchase.

Ellia's Earth Day field trip.  They just walked a block away to the park but she still had a lot of fun.

 Nice try Ellia.
The swimsuit phase doesn't end at bedtime.
For a ward service project / Eagle scout project we helped clean headstones at the Mandeville cemetery.

 A combined youth activity.

Jeremy going crawfishing with the young men.

After cleaning headstones, I took Ellia to two birthday parties. The first was a video game truck. She had a blast playing Mine Craft.

Then a few hours later she got to made her own pizza and cupcake.

It's getting warm enough to swim!

Ashlyn taking good care of all her stuffed animals.
 Including a vet's office.
We found a new playground in the shade!
Going for a walk around the block.
