NYC!

Well here it is, our post about vacationing in New York. It was different than we had planned but it actually made it much better for us. Last minute turn of events sent us out without Ellia, and we had my sister's entire house to ourselves as well as their car. SWEET! It was a much needed vacation that we didn't even realize we needed.

For those of you who may have thought I was kidding about our trip to New York being mostly baseball, these pictures should be proof! We did get to shop around times square and on fifth avenue (for Yankees shirts) and we did eat out, (at Yankee Tavern). Ok, ok I had my choice of a few things too. We went to the Metropolitan Museum of Fine Art (what do we know about art...nada, but the arms and armory room was cool) and toured Little Italy where we had an authentic "slice". My favorite part of the trip was when we were trying to navigate our way to Little Italy and we were walking around non-touristy parts of New York. We saw some concrete parks and kids just playing around how they do everyday. It just felt so cool to see how people live there.

Other highlights included, me relying on Jeremy to get us from subway to subway and him not realizing how much I really was relying on him. We got on once and I closed my eyes thinking it was a long ride. One stop later there is a tap on my shoulder from a lady sitting next to uh, NOT jeremy anymore. She points out the closed door to Jeremy peering in with the look on his face, "Not again." (something similar happened two years ago when we were in New York, only that time he got on the subway and i missed it!) Anyway we were reunited shortly thereafter.

Eating at Hard Rock, I'm not sure why, it was just one of my favorite meals there.

Seeing the Naked Cowboy....I had never heard of him so Jeremy had to explain. Hey wait a second, where did he hear about the Naked Cowboy?

Finally getting to sit down inside a nice cool building to see a Broadway show.

Rushing (like cattle) down the rainy streets of Manhattan to get a good spot for fireworks.

FAO Schwartz toy store.

Obviouly Jeremy has different highlights, which I'm sure relate mostly to baseball...you'll have to ask him!

A little accidental side trip...but look what we found. Shea StadiumThe new Yankee stadium

the dreaded crowds. P.S. don't try to take a large bag to the game unless you want to wait in line before and after the game and pay 5$ to check it at the bowling alley

Happy 1st Birthday Ellia!

Jeremy kept trying to tell me we were having "like 10 parties" for Ellia, but in reality she only had two. We celebrated with family in Utah, and with friends in California. Here are some of the best pictures!

Hand made cake decorating - thank you very much!
The tradition is to let her dig into her cake and get all messy Well she really wasn't interested, even when we tried to help her, she just wanted it off her hand

Finally she just crawled away.

She did a little better with her first present

Some of Midway's finer activities! Feeding the ducks and taking a mountain drive up Gaurdsman.

Ah, what happy cousins!

Even if she's not happy i still think she's dang cute!

Cookie anyone? Guess since we started with the sugar treats at her party we can give her a cookie here and there too...unfortunately most of us were wearing light colored pants that night!
California birthday.

Katie is used to containing her 14 month old brother so she was being a good help with Ellia. However, Ellia is not used to being contained by other children!

we tried a smaller "cake" this time. Still no luck, she did get some frosting on her knee trying to crawl away though!

The Joys of Pool Ownership

This morning I found the second critter to test out our water in the pool. Fortunately this one could swim unlike the squirrel. The question is, now what do we do with it?

You know it is actually kind of ironic because this morning as I drove Jeremy to work I mentioned that I hadn't seen much of California's wildlife...hmmm guess I got my wish??
