March 2016

Super hero day at school...

Getting ready to consign some girl clothes. Ok, a LOT of girl clothes.
Brody gets moving at therapy.

Chevron pajamas on a chevron blanket.

Biking the trace with friends.

I read something about how to make custom frames for cheap and decided to try it for this fun Louisiana picture Laura gave me.  You use canvas stretchers. Here is the before. I think I spent about $10.
After!
Jeremy and I decided to go to the Ted Cruz rally on a date...it was pretty interesting.  I had to leave early to take the babysitter home and missed Ted Cruz because he was late. BUT I got to see Phil from Duck Dynasty so that made it awesome for me!
When I texted my dad that he would never guess where I was, and then revealed that I was at the Ted Cruz rally he responded with, "on purpose?"
The Judy's came with us which made it double the fun.
and of course little Brody enjoyed the once in a lifetime experience.
It's Phil! (From Duck Dynasty)

Jeremy got some pictures of Ted Cruz. The place cleared out a bit since he was so late.

Today is the day!
The microphone wasn't working but it was still a great blessing and a memorable family moment. He got so many comments on his adorable tux...someone said it was a cool 70s style and someone else commented on the coat tails.
He wasn't too cooperative when it came to pictures afterwards.

Ellia playing with the phone again....catching us fast asleep.
Nice choice of blanket Ash.
The girls were watching a show with Brody and the next thing I know he is practically camouflaged in the middle of the floor.

Ashlyn being sweet to Brody by putting her doll blanket on him.
Love this face. I think he's trying to hold his Binkie in.
There was a Relief Society activity on the same night as Woodlake Chuck E. Cheese fundraiser, so Jeremy was brave enough to take all the girls by himself.

After a day of strong winds and some stormy weather Covington had some serious flooding.
Jeremy happened to be having lunch at Chimes that day and got some crazy pictures.

Here's a comparison I found online.
This is what my house looked like while I was at Women's Conference and Jeremy was taking care of all the kids.
Brody, 3 months old.

A short walk on the trace, "Take my picture mom!"

A quick getaway to the beach. Brody's first time.

It was the perfect day to try out our kites, Ellia has a lady bug one that worked so good and we kept it flying the whole time we were there.

Feeling the sand and water.

Brody also got a nice nap in the warm sunshine.

On our way home we stopped at a boat marina and a really high bathroom. Shrimp boats for miles.

Quincy has a good morning smile for Brody.

A whole Saturday to play with friends.  I kept seeing things leaving the house and the garage, and when I went outside I was surprised by their fun creations.

She loves to cuddle her little brother.

Sara came for a visit and we went to Ponchatoula to antique shop. I'd been wanting to go and she was the perfect reason to do it.  We left Anna and Quincy at mother's day out and just had Brody tagging along.  When we pulled up in the middle of the town I saw this cage thing and an ad for baseball tryouts.  I put two and two together and thought it was pretty strange they had a batting cage in the middle of town. Then as we shopped we overheard some people talking about an alligator in the middle of town and I couldn't figure it out...UNTIL we went back and looked in this cage...yep, it was an alligator living in the middle of town.
We also went to the consignment sale (to do my drop offs and to shop) and I picked out some outfits for Brody...I think my style is pretty consistent.
Time for Jeremy's birthday.
Since Anna was visiting we got a different toy set out of the attic everyday and the girls had so much fun playing.

I don't know if it was a blessing or a curse, but the stomach flu passed through our family while Sara was visiting. I was so grateful to have her there to help, and to try to keep Brody away from all of us.  It started with Quincy and it was so hard for her to understand that she couldn't eat of drink  anything.  She carried a bowl everywhere she went and we finally gave her a tiny bit of diet coke, which she fell asleep with.
Once we finally all felt better we had a dinner outside to enjoy the nicer weather.

Jeremy signed both girls up for softball this spring and even agreed to be the assistant coach for Ellia's team.

With dad as coach they got lot's of snoballs after practice.

All cuddled up.
The Pelican Palooza had to be relocated inside and Jeremy took the girls. These are the paintings from Ashlyn's and Ellia's art classes.

Ashlyn brought this home from school and I thought it was SO cute!  "When I am 100 years old I am knitting my cat a blanket."

Before we got sick we took a trip to New Orleans to go to Storybook land.  It was pretty cute but kindof small, not to mention cold and a bit rainy.

The girls had so much fun with Sara and Anna.

Sara was a good sport and played teacher for the kids.

Trying to stay warm and feed Brody while we waited for the St. Patrick's Day parade.

While they threw some fun stuff, it wasn't quite like experiencing a Mardi Gras parade.  The Italian men handed out little felt kisses and lot's of plastic flowers.

We had gotten a bit wet and it was pretty cold so this was Sara's solution to keeping her feet warm.

One of the girls gave Brody their kiss.
A sneaky picture taken by one of the girls while we spent time in one of our Doctor's appointments.

Wearing a pair of pj's from Grandma Carol before he grows out of them...too many clothes to wear them all!
Ashlyn's easter egg hunt at the park.  She was so excited to have me join...and I really enjoyed being there. This is the first time in three years of Woodlake easters that is hasn't rained on easter egg hunt day.

All their cute bags lined up in the hall.
I read a post on facebook that talked about the crossing guard dressed up as a bunny and a minutes later I passed him!
Ashlyn was worn out this day, she fell asleep IN Brody's seat.

Quincy had some fun Easter activities at school too.

Last but not least, Ellia's easter party, no egg hunt for the 2nd graders.

Jeremy was given some tickets to a sought after Covington event called Chef Soiree. A sampling of all the best restaurants in the area. Of course we were both just recovering from the flu.  He was further along in his recovery than I was, but still had to hold back.  I on the other hand could only tolerate a few salads and crackers for the first hour or more.  It was freezing cold and just before we left I started feeling like I could try a few more things.  Some cheese grits and of course bread pudding.  Besides feeling weak and worrying about how close I was to a bathroom, it was kindof nice to be so selective. I'm sure I would have over eaten and felt sick after ward anyway.

Finally feeling a little better and able to sleep in her own room!

This little guy was lucky to never get the stomach bug.  But he did get a big Easter prize from Grandma Carol.
Ashlyn just can't pass up a beautiful flower on the trace.

An evening of egg dying.

Finding a new trail to explore. This was actually a little day trip to a town called Wiggins.

After our walk it was a little too early for dinner so we stopped at a park to play...actually Brody and I slept in the car.

We found a little drive-through place to stop and eat.
What happens when Ellia and Ashlyn get the phone...some cute selfies.

So handsome in his little church outfit.
Dressing up for Easter Sunday.

It's strawberry picking time. After the flooding the strawberries were kindof slim picking since there were so many sitting in water they got a bit rotten. We had to buy an entire flat and the girls wore out pretty quickly so I was left to fill it on my own...but at least they watched Brody in the shade for me.

Making chocolate covered strawberries.

As part of our spring break entertainment we went to a children's museum in Gulfport that I had been wanting to try.  They had a great time, and it was a cute museum.  I was a little worried about them trying on all the dress ups...just concerned a bit about lice!

Brody is getting quite hard to feed.  He sucks and sucks and just doesn't get much.  Poor little guy.
I had to take all of the girls to Brody's therapy this week but they managed to make the best of it.
Trying on a new outfit from one of Jeremy's supervisors.
Packing up for a trip...she is a little overloaded, but she insisted on carrying it.
