June 2011

In Utah we had a lot of fun playing with family, and it all started in a beautiful setting. This pool at Deer Valley Lodge feels like it is on top of the world. It was the perfect weather and Tom even brought us lunch from his work meeting.
Not sure what Jack is doing, but it caught Ashlyn's attention.

The beach entry was SO fun for Ashlyn to crawl around on.

The picture doesn't do the pool or the view justice. We were looking out over the valley and there was a waterfall feature in the pool. Plus it was fun to look out over the ski runs, some of which still had mounds of snow!

Even with nice weather the hot tub still felt good!

When it was time for a break from the water Ashlyn just couldn't seem to get comfortable.

Ah, perfect!
Afterward we went to Tom's room for baths and.....

Naps

Our next adventure was fishing at Wasatch State Park on free fish day. It was so cute to see the girls with their poles, although all the kids, besides Jack, squirmed away when fish were caught. it wasn't long before they edged their way toward the playground, not before I caught Sara's camera in my hook and fished it into the pond though...yikes.

One night at Grandma Carol's, while we were trying to watch the Bachelorette, Ellia and Ashlyn had a blast 'jumping' off the fireplace step.

Ashlyn found some new toys at Grandma's too. A doll buggy decoration and the travel swing I found for $5 at a yard sale in Midway!

She took great care to wrap her dolly up in a blanky and swing her to sleep before putting her in the carriage and pushing her around

Just another busy day to tire out the girls. Similar to the day we spent at Heritage Park when NO ONE had a camera or even a phone. It was SO crowded and pretty hot, but over all I think it ended fun. We got to ride a train shuttle, and the kids were interested in some of the old houses, and they especially enjoyed panning for gold, playing in the mini houses and on the play ship.

Emily Sara and I went to the Tracy Aviary (mom was going to come but was getting over the flu) Cole was really excited to see the Tuwkee Vuwtuws and they all had fun playing in the play areas.

Right outside the Aviary in Capital Park there is this little system of streams, bridges and pools to play in, it was SO fun I can't believe I never knew about it!

Ellia picked out a Dora cake with Grandma Carol and it almost made it to the party unscathed...if only these two weren't so curious.

Where Ashlyn spent most of the party - this girl is a monkey.
magician
Timp Freeze opened again so we HAD to go have a dipped cone. They were huge!
We did a lot of other fun things in Utah like having a play date at the Heber park with Sarah Epps, Kassi, and Joey - it was really windy so we actually ended up at McDonalds. I had lunch with Kristi Davis and got my Ranch Burger from Dairy Keen. We took lunch to Heather and Emmitt Morris and played there for a few hours. Saw a magician at the Wasatch Library. Had lunch with Tina and Maya Didricksen at Artic Circle in West Valley, and celebrated Lia's birthday at Grandma and Grandpa Clegg's in Midway. We also did Fathers day for Dad a little early so I could be there when he got the flat screen TV.
The day after I flew back to Bakersfield was Father's day so I could hardly get much put together but I did have some gifts (fishing poles for the girls and Jeremy) and tickets for Jeremy and I to go see Le Mis in L.A. I also knew Amanda and I had the couples softball and dinner activity planned for the following night so I didn't feel TOO bad.
However, about 15 minutes after we got to the park, which was the only one we could find NOT packed with littl league games, Ashlyn tripped and bit into her tongue. She was bleeding everywhere so we made the decision to take her to the ER. Amanda offered to take Ellia and it was a good thing because we spent 5 hours in the ER and didn't get home until after 2 a.m. Ellia slept at Brooklyn's and hasn't stopped asking for sleepover's since then.
Ashlyn had 5 or 6 stitches in her tongue and had to be put under conscious sedation..which didn't end up working anyway and four people had to hold her down...not because she was in pain, but because she didn't want to hold still while some stranger pulled her tongue out of her mouth.

Ellia teaching Ashlyn her tricks of climbing on the counter to get the chocolate chips.
