August 2013

Although she looks a little out of it in this picture, she looks very cute in the picture Abby took of her and entered into the fair.  Visiting the Wasatch County Fair Exhibits.

Got in trouble and sent to bed like this....she must have been tired.
Jeremy's hard work in the master bathroom while we are playing in Utah.
Ok, he got to vacation a little in Mississippi with the Young Men too.

Swimming lessons with Jack, Jace and Will. I couldn't believe how timid Ashlyn had gotten in the water. It makes me sad that she got so good at swimming and then got so out of practice when we left our pool and swim lessons in Bakersfield.  Swimming apparently is not like learning to ride a bike for a 3 year old.

Each of the girls got to pick a ride to go on at the fair.  I went on one with them and of course it was a spinny one.  I might have been ok, but no one else was there so the guy just kept the ride going and going and going.  I thought I might die.

Thanksgiving Point with G-Ma Laura, Mallary, Gunner and Gage.

Ashlyn was in HEAVEN.
Biggest horse Ellia has ridden.

Heber Fair Days Parade.

I think Ashlyn provided Quincy with some toys to play with during nap time.
Shortly after this photo the car fell off the cabin.
Joey's barn.  At first while we were getting the horse, Rojo ready, the girls seemed like they'd be just as happy playing in the barn.  I don't blame them, it was a relic, a thing from movies!

Once they got on though, they couldn't get enough.

She is a big horse at 17 hands, but so perfect for the girls.  I enjoyed riding too, but always feel so rusty.
Another trip to the Alpine Coaster with my family.  It was almost disastrous because we needed to buy at least one ticket and while we were figuring out the free passes standing in front of the ticket office THEY CLOSED! I knocked on the door and they wouldn't sell even one more.  Sara was panicking a little but we went up to the ride and I was hoping they'd let one kiddie person on free but I couldn't exactly say that, well the ride said closed but my finagling got us all on and it ended up being a fun ride.

I couldn't find the girls later on because they were being so quiet, and then I came on this scene...so cute in their matching jammies.
Redeeming our free cupcake at the Midway Bakery.
I guess they were both worn out.  My mom did such a good job reading to them at night and they would both just fall right to sleep in her bed.
We got up super early to catch our plane back to Louisiana.  I guess this meant that Ashlyn wasn't ready for the sunlight.
Surviving the flight.
We took a wrong turn in the LA airport...now I know it's quite different here, but come on, Customs?!
Dad had the girls bedrooms all decorated for their homecoming!

We didn't take much rest before jumping back into the swing of summer. This was a combined mutual activity rental that the kids got to benefit from the following day.

Chevron invited Jeremy's team to a Saints Pre-Season game in their suite....SWEET!
NOTE TO SELF - Crop this terrible picture

A deck Jeremy helped build for an Eagle Scout project
The girls sleeping in their beds...er tents.

Ellia's first day of Kindergarten.

Ashlyn insisted on wearing a back pack.
Morning meeting in the Pelican's Nest.  Ellia did just fine.
A Nature Trail Center near our house.

the things I do to try to keep my girls from getting too girly...I was a little squeamish but tried not to let it show.

Old State Capital in Baton Rouge. We were there for a friend's endowment and decided to stick around to see some sites.

It's a little nerve-wracking when you get in an elevator that looks like this.

It was much cooler at the top than at the bottom.

I don't know what got into the girls but they were posing like crazy!!

State Museum...I LOVED IT!  I could've stayed forever, there is so much to know, and so much history!

can't forget a display on how the real tailgaters do it.

All the different ways to say one thing.
This is a replica of a huge bonfire they have for a Christmas celebration in a small town in Northern Louisiana.
Couldn't find Ashlyn before bed....she had fallen asleep in there!

Quincy playing dress up with the big kids.

After a long weekend, Ellia headed back to school for her second day...this time the boys were going to be there too!

This is where Ashlyn was on Ellia's second morning going to school. Good thing she has a few years to get a morning routine down.

Spaghetti!

"You don't want a hug?!"
Just one of the many huge spiders here.
First attempt at a hairdo.

This girl even likes broccoli stems.

 Ellia and MaKayla...best buddies.

more broccoli.
She requested that I take this picture of her in Home Depot.
Cheap clothes, naughty baby,
Driving across the lake one afternoon was kindof eerie.  You could hardly tell where the water ended on the horizon and the sky began.
beignets at the original Café Du Monde.

She got caught smelling markers.
 ready to paint at last.
While we are at it....

Back to football 5k run, ending on the Superdome 50 yard line.

Jazz player in the poster...ah, miss those Jazz.

Thinking of Max Holdaway in this one!

Ash being a good big sister at the Children's Museum.
Lia being a good big sister reading to Quincy
meanwhile, Ashlyn.
A little more transformation for the changing table.

Well, its finally happened, we got a canoe!
