January 2011

Sledding at Soldier Hollow, our New Year's day tradition! Ellia made it down twice before succumbing to the cold and waiting in the car with Grandma Laura and Grandpa Morris. Ok, so I only made it two more times than her before I wussed out with the cold. It was probably around 10 degrees and when you add that with wind whipping in your face...just not the best sledding circumstances. Plus I had to give Ellia my scarf. (The previous night it was 7 below)
The next day: These two fine people started it all....

First - four kids
Then, this mass of people. It's so fun getting gathered up for a picture with all these kids.
Finally we get some good ones though!
Then it's time to let off the steamtry again with the kidsand wait around for one last set of pictures.

Going ok, not handling this well,
over it and just laughing about the whole ordeal!
Since everything is set up we have a little more picture fun.
This was taken for a website Sara likes called, Awkward Family photos...I've never seen it but now I'm curious!

These two were all smiles at first, they just can't get enough of each other!

After all the pictures were down we moved on to other formalities! Celebrating Ashlyn's birthday (a few months late!)

She was so good at the penny jar...she got $5 worth of coins in those two little fists!

The older kids were understandably distracted.

Moving on to a bit more stress relief after the pictures...this silly game

Jeremy and I took a few days to vacation in Lava Hot Springs Idaho. We spent plenty of time soaking in the springs, and eating out. We also went snowshoeing (and remembered we can talk about more than just our kids and enjoy each others company) and went to a little museum and learned all about a little place that used to exist in Lava called, Ligertown.

While we were gone the girls were spending time with grandma's and cousins. Ellia got to go to Story Time at the library.
Since they had matching outfits we had to get pictures of Ella and Ashlyn.
Ashlyn wasn't convinced this was necessary
but then she found something to keep her interest!
and started enjoying it!
Before we left Midway we had to take the girls sledding one last time.

Ashlyn actually really enjoyed the snow part.

and back in Utah County we figured it was time for Ellia to get her haircut...she looks excited huh.

Once we were home we started putting things in their places. These are the magnets I made for Jeremy so Ellia and Ashlyn would remember what everyone looked like. Tom however is missing, he was last seen driving away in a pony car with Polly Pocket.Even if we didn't have Christmas morning at home, it sure looked like it when we unloaded everything.
The first few months of the year are project time at our house, so we finally decided to tackle this one. Refinishing our kitchen cabinets.
Halfway done with one side of the kitchen.
Getting ready for Spring...

P.S. December is coming...I messed up when I was organizing pictures when I started this
